What is AUD/USD?
AUD/USD compares the Australian dollar with the US dollar. A currency pair is quoted as one currency in terms of another. Compare central-bank policy and economic releases on both sides of the pair; a change in either side can move the price.
What can move the price?
Use these topics to frame research, then check current primary data and company or exchange releases before drawing a conclusion:
- RBA policy
- commodity demand
- China-linked growth
How to study AUD/USD
Start with a daily chart to locate the broader trend and recent volatility. Move to a shorter interval only after writing down the question you want the chart to answer. Compare a price move with rba policy, commodity demand and china-linked growth; one candle alone cannot establish a cause.
Before a hypothetical entry, mark the level that would invalidate the idea, estimate the cash loss at that level and include spread, commission and potential slippage. Commodity and Asia-session news can alter volatility.
Practice exercise
